Product Shoutout: Veak Ceramics, Our Newest Obsession

The New Obsession Veak Ceramics
RUSTIC, MID-CENTURY INSPIRED, UTILITARIAN CERAMICS

“Born and raised in the southeast, I moved to Ithaca, NY in 2010 where I apprenticed with studio potter Renata Wadsworth. She taught me everything I know, from throwing pots to building and firing a wood kiln. Since my time in NY I have spent time in various studios developing and perfecting this latest body of work. I am excited to share it with you. I hope that it might bring you the same joy that I’ve had while making it.”  –Sara Veak

We see ourselves sipping cocoa by the fire (or the radiator!). Swirling foamy latte’s at dawn, hot toddies at 6 and oversized salads at dinner.

Veak Ceramics are the perfect vehicle weeknight dinners or friendly gatherings. All handcrafted right here in Kansas City.

Where to Shop in Kansas City | Racked Feature

Shop Kansas City

“For those outside the Midwest, Kansas City has a pretty indistinguishable reputation; in most people’s minds, it’s a flyover state, if it’s anything at all. But the rest of the country would be wise to pay attention, because Kansas City has some serious style.

The City of Fountains is made up of distinct districts that reach from the River Market (located on the Missouri River) to the Country Club Plaza, an outdoor shopping space with architecture modeled after Seville, Spain; there’s also the more industrial West and East Bottoms. Each neighborhood has its own character reflected in the eclectic mix of boutiques, shops, and general stores scattered throughout.

Here, we’ve put together a guide that shows off the best stores “Paris of the Plains” has to offer, from homegrown denim brands to vintage emporiums and design stores. Put it to use next time you decide to stay over, instead of just flying over.”

Top Design Trends 2017: Decor and Home

colorful inspiration interior design trends 2017

We’ve done our research, scrolled through countless resources and crunched the numbers:

2017, What’s in. What’s out.

Patterns: Go bold or go home. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns. But don’t go overboard. There is an art to the craft of mixing patterns into a room. We find patterns more crucial than ever, especially with rooms trending towards a whitewashed finish — patterns will keep your space from looking sterile or like an Emergency Room…

*For further pattern inspiration check out Jaclyn’s full write up in Darling Magazine “5 Tips for Making Patterns Work in Any Room”

Color: Gone are whitewashed, solemn interiors. Replaced by energetic greens (see Pantone’s color pick “Greenery” for design envy!) blues and tropical hues.

Cork: Floors, walls, wine bottles and all. We can’t be sure how long this one will last but it’s an oldie/goodie situation.

Handmade (Move Over DIY): Artisanal, handcrafted pieces are in. We’ve certainly seen this with the popularity of our lines of ceramics by Helen Levi and Convivial Productions in our shop. Our Pottery Collection is full of handmade pieces from artists across the world.

Meditation Area: Everyone needs a little retreat, right? Now’s the time to create a space within your home where you can go to reflect. This can be a separate room or a little nook, such as the Meditation Corner interior designer, Jaclyn Joslin placed in this recent project.

Art Inspired Wallpaper: It’s not like we dedicated an entire blog post to this movement, oh wait… we have! Art Inspired Wallpaper.

What to Avoid in 2017

Subway Tiles: One of the easiest traps to fall head first. We still adore the look, but enough is enough.

Fiddle Leaf Figs: Not only are these gorgeous trees among the easiest to kill, they’re also falling out of style… maybe it’s their finicky nature. If you’ve adapted and manage to have raised one well, keep on keeping on, but if you missed this one, let it go!

We’d love to hear your thoughts. What’s in? What’s out?

Be Sure to join us on Instagram, where the magic really happens, sharing images from the shop, current projects and featured content. Enough to get the creative juices flowing! See you lovelies there.

And as always, we are here to help YOU design your life

On Trend: Art Inspired Wallpaper | Coveted Home Blog

madison and grow, wallpaper, kansas city, interior design, home decor, accessories, art, handmade, wall paper, painting, artist,

Not long ago it was said with declarative force that wallpaper was a thing of the past. Was outdated. A faux pa. A designers worst nightmare; more associated with mauve flashbacks to the 70’s than high art. Oh but the times have changed as we fawn over gorgeous wallpapered flats in NYC, in the trendiest L.A studios and, yes, even accenting the walls of Coveted Home!

We’ve rounded up a few favorite producers of all American made wall coverings. These artists are trailblazing a rich path to prove once and for all that wallpaper is back, and better than ever.  Continue reading On Trend: Art Inspired Wallpaper | Coveted Home Blog
