We are Coveted Home

The Coveted Home team is a small group of enthusiastic individuals, who possess an array of expertise and talents and share a common goal. Our goal is to help people better design their lives. We do this by providing  high-quality, unique furniture and home accessories and outstanding service to our customers and clients. Kansas City has not always been on the forefront of the design world. However, it is steadily growing a reputation for being a fashionable, innovative, and creative hot spot. We’re excited to be on the front line of the design revolution that is happening in this city.

Our clientele is intelligent and discerning. They are not satisfied with the generic products or impersonal service that they find at chain stores. Our customers want to shop where they can find something new and original. They want to talk to real, knowledgeable people who care about them and the community. Without trying to sound too self-congratulatory, we are proud of who we are, what we do, and the products that we carry! Without further ado, these are the people who make Coveted Home, Coveted Home:

Jaclyn Joslin // Owner + Interior Designer

Jaclyn Headshot2 (1)

Jaclyn’s style: modern – organic – comfortable

“Jaclyn is one of the most original and stylish women I know. Her incessant hunger for the new and the intriguing inspires me every day. Her spaces are the embodiment of comfortable, tasteful, livable design. Working for her is the best hands-on education I could ask for.”  – Addison

Jaclyn is the heart and soul of Coveted home. It’s fascinating to watch her seamlessly handle the ins-and-outs of owning a successful retail and interior design business. She is continuously seeking out new products and methods in order to offer the best goods and services to our clientele. She also has an ability to find and foster her team members’ talents. Jaclyn became interested in interior design while working towards a degree in the Humanities. She had a natural aptitude for design, and eventually went back to earn an associates degree in interior design. When she’s not at work (or working from home), Jaclyn can be found “laying low” at home with Simone and her boyfriend Nick, going on walks or hikes, and riding her bike. She also enjoys hanging out with family and friends and traveling.

“I love creating solutions for people’s design problems. One of my favorite things to hear is “I love that idea, I would have never thought of that.” I know I’ve done something good when a client makes a comment along those lines. I also love seeing clients rooms transformed, the before and after thing is pretty awesome. ” – Jaclyn

Addison’s style: warm – sculptural – austere

“Addison has an uncanny knack for uncovering the most obscure and interesting design artifacts and collectibles. His passion for all things design related is admirable and contagious!” – Jaclyn

Addison was exposed to design and collecting early; he attended his first auction at six weeks old! He says, “design piqued my interest as a way of integrating the disparate eras and contexts I adore, and objects I’ve collected, into a cohesive and beautiful finished space”. We are all in awe of the breadth of knowledge that Addison possesses in regards to all things design and especially vintage design. He gets excited about helping customers select the perfect pieces for their homes. When he’s not at Coveted Home, Addison can be found antiquing, out and about with friends, or relaxing at home with his partner Nicholas and their Russian Blue cats.

“The best part of my job is helping to give our clients and customers the most inspiring, unexpected and beautiful place to shop for their homes in Kansas City. Another favorite part is the non-stop learning process that happens when any group of creative and talented people work together for a common cause. A very real sense of family, not just within the team, but with our customers and clients, means very much to me.” – Addison

Rachel Kauffman // Sales Associate + Social Media Specialist

Rachel’s style: juxtaposed – relaxed – Collected

“I so admire Rachel’s ability to troubleshoot situations. She doesn’t give up and is quick to learn how to remedy any issue. And her eye for vintage is fantastic!” – Melanie

Rachel joined the Coveted Home crew shortly after our move to the Plaza. Like many of her co-workers, her love of interior design was sparked by her interest in all things vintage. Her educational background is in sociology and psychology, which she finds useful in her day-to-day work. “Interior design is a multidisciplinary field; it combines art and design, ergonomics, psychology, and history. It’s important to understand the aesthetic intention as well as a room’s purpose and the people who are going to be using it”. Rachel usually spends her free time hanging out with her husband, son, and pets. She can also be found thrifting or at home working on her mid-century ranch.

“When I’m at Coveted Home, I’m surrounded by good people and beautifully curated objects; honestly, it doesn’t even feel like work. I get to help others improve their quality of life through good design and learn something new every day.” – Rachel

Rachel’s inspiring space via

Simone // Shop Dog / Greeter

“Simone is such a character! She charms customers and passersby alike with her adorable face and sweet disposition.” – Rachel

Simone is a Brussels Griffon and has been with Coveted Home for almost eight years! She has grown up in the store and loves the shop dog lifestyle. She is a total extrovert and enjoys meeting new people and other dogs and getting lots of attention. She also enjoys sunbathing and going for walks.

“I am so honored that each of these talented and beautiful people have chosen to be a part of the CH team! “ – Jaclyn

Shop the Look with Jaclyn Joslin, Founder of Coveted Home

With the trees blooming and the birds chirping, I always feel as though I’ve been given a fresh start, as if anything is possible. Spring is the season of newness and I decided to bring home a few of the new decor items from Coveted Home to test them out. I am loving the transformation they had on my living room! We all know what a little greenery can do for a room. So many times I go to clients homes and they say to me: “I just don’t know what to do to make the room feel finished.” Almost always one of my suggestions is, “add plants!” In this case, three of these plants were already in this room. I brought the snake-plant from my dining area and added the hanging plant and bushy guy on the fireplace and bam! Hello junglaow! I then added a few other decor items such as the woven tray on the coffee table and some fresh flowers — my living room never felt better.

I’ve broken down the items we have in the store with links to each at the end of the post. Some items are one of a kind (mainly the goods I brought back from Morocco) so I’ve listed a similar item.

For those of you that read our journal but do not live in Kansas City, we are offering free shipping on the website through April 15th! (excluding furniture and some large decor items) Just enter coupon code FREESHIP at checkout.

I hope this provides you some inspiration to freshen things up at home this Spring! As always, let us help you design your life.

DwellStudio at Coveted Home

We are excited to officially announce our newest upholstery line at Coveted Home – DwellStudio. DwellStudio was founded in 2000 by Christiane Lemieux. DwellStudio started as a unique and modern textile company but has expanded their brand to include home accessories and furnishings. Coveted Home carries some of their home accessories, but we are especially pleased to offer DwellStudio furniture. We’re very impressed with the  furniture’s quality and style, and so are our clients. We want to share with you a few of the reasons why we adore this upholstery line and some of our favorite pieces.

Why we love DwellStudio furniture

  1. They look gorgeous
  2. They are high-quality pieces
  3. The fabric options are varied (but not overwhelming) and awesome
  4. The prices are beyond reasonable

People commonly ask if DwellStudio (yes, it’s all one word) is related to Dwell Magazine. While they both revolve around modern interiors, they are not related or owned by the same company.

Introducing: Susan Connor New York

We are pleased to announce a tactile, textural and covetable addition to Coveted Home’s product offering. Susan Connor New York, launched in early 2014, is an artisanal textile, pillow and decor line based in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Committed to ethical and local sourcing, the line is proudly American-made. Combining the founder’s relaxed and comfortable aesthetic with traditional technique and a truly artistic creative process, the line is a seamless addition to the shop, with muted and understated color ways and luxurious materials like linen. In addition, the hand-crafted, small-batch nature of Susan’s designs aligns perfectly with our mission of stocking well-made and beautiful home decor unique to Kansas City. Her featherweight and intricately detailed linen throws, in particular, are already a shop favorite.

Room Reveal: Details on Point

I wanted to do a before & after post with this room reveal. Unfortunately I am unable to recover the before photos to share with you! The room had a large brown sectional and brown grasscloth on the walls. It was a little dark and a little dated. Our goal was to lighten and modernize the room while still making it comfortable for movie watching.

I just love all the details in this room. So many amazing accessories, many of them available through Coveted Home, many of them vintage. A custom made wood and steel bookcase by Matt Castilleja and the hide rug cut through some of the feminine elements in the room striking a great balance.  My client has impeccable taste making this project so much fun to work on!

All photography executed by Sarah Sweeney.

What They Covet with Tobe Reed

We love Tobe Reed’s style and her “awesome” blog, and we’re thrilled to share some of her favorite design finds with you! Tobe is a creative Jane of all trades. By day, she is the managing Editor of Hallmark’s Think.Make.Share blog. By night, she is mommy to her 2-year-old daughter, Ava; a vintage goods vendor for One Kings Lane, and a sometimes shelter blogger of 5 years.

Coveter: Tobe Reed, Because It’s Awesome blog

Tobe Reed

Tobe’s style: “I’ve often described my aesthetic as a “hot mess” of styles. I love all design genres, from super buttoned up traditional to California cool to relaxed Bohemian. No matter the specific style of decor, it’s always a collected look with a little bit of whimsy that draws my eye. Something that feels really personal with items that have a story to tell.”  Tobe, we totally get and love that!

Tobe’s room pick: The eclectic home of an L.A. Design Writer on One Kings Lane

“I am beyond inspired by the home of writer Christine Lennon. With tips from greats like Kelly Wearstler and Peter Dunham, this space was destined for nothing short of greatness. Despite the cool hues, this collected room feels totally warm and welcoming. I love that the blues and greens are used so liberally that they almost become a neutral. There are so many great elements in this room!”

Geometry Fruit Bowl ($58) “I love the touch a modern, geometric decorative accessory or accent piece can add to a space. Make it a crisp white like this Convival Production beauty from Coveted Home and you have a piece that can live in any space, serving a multitude of purposes.”
Midcentury Barrel-Back Chair ($695) “Any time you come across an interesting accent chair, you. must. buy. it. I love the touch of whimsy the peach chair brings to Christine’s living room. It both clashes with and complements the blue and green hues beautifully, which says that she doesn’t take this space — and probably herself — too seriously. This mid century barrel chair via One Kings Lane touts a gorgeous shape, and is just begging for a chic makeover!”
Cedarhurst Rug ($2,300) “I am a sucker for a good vintage rug. Persians are typically my style, but anything that offers a splash of color in an otherwise neutral room will do. I love the selection at Bellwether Rugs. Thanks so much for having me today!”
Thank you Tobe! We love your desire to mix styles and the room you picked is right up our ally.
What do you “covet”? That is the question Coveted Home is asking our favorite makers and tastemakers for our newest blog feature called “What They Covet”. Want to share what you covet with our readers? Send us an email at for details about how to participate.

The long road to the Plaza

It’s been a while since we got a blog post up. It’s not out of laziness, I promise. As I am sure you have heard by now, we have relocated the store to the Country Club Plaza! And it was quite an undertaking, let me tell you. Our construction crew, KC Home Solutions, killed it on what may have been the fastest remodel in history and turned our space around in 3 short weeks (I highly recommend them for your next remodel project). We closed up shop in Prairie Village on April 30th and were open on the Plaza 8 short days later, May 8th. This wasn’t just a “pick up and move” kind of move, mind you. We actually have an entire store full of new display units, furniture and accessories. Everything had to be unboxed, unpacked, merchandised, tagged and entered into our point of sale system…and 4 days before we were to open our doors, our computer (with the point of sale system) crashed. We retrieved the restored computer from the “doctor” the day of opening at 9:30am.

The first week went off quite well despite our setbacks and we got most of the kinks worked out in time for our grand opening party, which we hosted on the 16th. The party was a great success, and if you happened to make it by that night, thank you for celebrating with us.

Amidst all of this (6 days into being open in the new store), I received a phone call with some very unexpected and upsetting news regarding the future of Coveted Home’s product offerings. I am not ready to share quite yet what this is, but there will be a blog post about it coming soon. I am a true believer in things happening for a reason, that my best is always ahead of me and that ultimately this will only bring better things for Coveted Home. Right now though, I have been pushed way out of my comfort zone (I know this is always a good thing as well!) and it will take some time to adjust. Stay tuned for what is sure to turn into exciting new avenues for us.

If you haven’t been to the new Plaza store yet, please stop by and see us. We have so many amazing new lines and products we can’t wait to share with you! It is a completely new experience–have I  mentioned our complimentary wine and coffee bar?! We are here, ready to share a drink with you and let you experience the new and improved Coveted Home store. Shop local Kansas City!

More shout outs to other local businesses that helped us pull off the new store on time, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Brass Tacks KC built our wall shelving unit along with a beautiful display console table that is available to order.

Matt Castilleja built our sales floor product display tables.

Hufft Projects built our sales counter with built in jewelry display case.

KC Home Solutions completed the entire construction build out which included new walls, new ceiling, new floors, electrical, paint and trim.

Join Our Team!

As you may have heard, we will be moving to the Plaza in just 6 short weeks! With our move we are expecting a busier store and therefore the need to hire a few more employees. We have an opening for 1 or 2 part time sales associates as well as a part time assistant manager position. Here are the details:

– You must possess an interest in and knowledge of whats going on in the world of design. That means you keep up to date on  sources such as design blogs, magazines, etc. Retail experience is strongly preferred, applicants with no sales experience will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

– If you have photoshop skills you will earn major brownie points. It is not required but would be very helpful, and if you don’t already know photoshop you will be asked to learn it. You will be asked to help with mood boards, and photo touching up, plus various graphics for the website, blog and clients.

– You must be friendly, honest, and accountable. And you must like dogs, Simone comes to work almost everyday. We are looking to hire someone who will blend right in with us. We like to keep it casual and fun while maintaining a professional atmosphere.

– You will be asked to be involved with the social media side of things, as well as helping out with the blog. Knowledge of instagram, pinterest, facebook and wordpress is required. If you are not familiar with running these basic SM tools then you are not the right fit for this position.

-You will be working on the sales floor with walk in customers and must have mad customer service skills, meaning going above and beyond for each customer. There is a lot of product knowledge and you will be expected to become very knowledgeable! We will also need your help maintaining the sales floor appearance, unpacking new inventory, helping with blog content, cleaning and taking out the trash and pretty much any other daily task that comes up.

-Our assistant manager should expect 20-30 hours/week and our sales associates should expect 10-20 hours/week. These are both hourly + commission positions. Weekend availability is a must.

-In your resume please Include anything that is relevant to YOUR design and style. If you have a blog, send a link. Same with instagram, twitter, Pinterest… all of this will help us get a feel for who you are.

-If you are currently still enrolled in school send some of your school projects or make a mood board showing a dream interior, or some favorite items collaged together..

-Resumes and all other content can be emailed to:, Attn: Jaclyn

Thank you to everyone who shares this to help spread the word and we look forward to hearing from you!
